NIH OTT Open Data Initiative

The NIH Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) has embarked on an ambitious project to make sure that as much of the technology transfer-related data generated at NIH and CDC is made available to the general public. We have done this though four specific paths (in order of efficiency):

  1. Providing an easy to use web site search that is not only searchable, but also provides for permalinks for filtered data stream. For example, the following URL will always provide a listing of the latest technologies available for licensing that mentions the words "mouse" and "model": https:///www.techtransfer.nih.gov/adv?ott[query]=mouse%20model
  2. Providing the OTT Embedded Search feature which lets you quickly and easily add the OTT search functionality to your website with a few lines of JavaScript code.
  3. Providing the OTT RSS Feed. For example, this link will provide an RSS Feed of all available technologies for licensing-- www.techtransfer.nih.gov/rss
  4. Providing the OTT API for third party websites and developers to connect, and access any and all records.
